Tripura CM Biplab Deb had recently visited the Churaibari check post near Assam border and directed the officials to make all vehicles undergo necessary weight measurement before entering the State.

This direction from the Tripura CM irked the truckers, who in protest launched an indefinite “chakka jam” demonstration.

The truckers are demanding complete withdrawal of the order from Tripura CM Biplab Deb.

The LPG truckers alleged that after Deb’s orders, they were being harassed and said it takes at least 2 to 3 days for them to enter the State with the heavy weight vehicle.

The indefinite “chakka jam” demonstration by the truckers that began on Monday entered third day on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Tripura DIG – LM Darlong and North district SP – Bhanupada Chakraborty rushed to the Churaibari check post and took stock of the situation there.

Later, Churaibari Police Station OC – Jayant Das was instructed to visit the protest site and convince the truckers to end the demonstration, a high official confirmed this correspondent.

However, the truckers refused to end their strike and maintained that they would enter Tripura only if their demands are met.
