Assam News – National Museum celebrates Destination Northeast India

The National Museum New Delhi is celebrating the rich heritage of Northeast India under the Ministry of DoNER & NEC’s initiative titled Destination Northeast India.

The event is a part of the celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glory of its people’s culture and achievements.

The celebration at National Museum New Delhi was inaugurated on November 1, 2021 and will continue till November 7, 2021, the Ministry of Culture said in a statement.

Cultural performances (folk dance and music ) relating to different states of Northeast India like Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim were performed from day 1 to day 3 (November 1-3, 2021) of the celebration at the National Museum.

Colourful performances were enjoyed and appreciated by the audiences.

Due to the festival, online activities were carried out on November 4-5,2021 as part of the celebration by the National Museum New Delhi.

The cultural performances resumed today after two days gap.

The morning session was started by Goalparia folk song by Agragami dance and cine team and Stick dance (Pung Cholom) of Manipur by Panthoibi Jagoi Marup.

In the post-lunch session (2 PM to 5 PM), there was Bihu dance (live) by artists of Agragami dance and cineteam followed by Stick Dance by Panthoibi Jagoi Marupo.

Cultural programmes will also be performed on November 7, 2021 in two sessions.

Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, Director General, National Museum, and Subrata Nath, Additional Director General, National Museum will grace the felicitation event on November 7, 2021 (Sunday) from 5 PM-6 PM.

Momentos and certificates would be awarded to the performers/ artists and the facilitators.
