Assam News – Nritya Nipun Charoo Bordoloye’s autobiography to be launched

The Charoo Bordoloye Foundation celebrating the 100th Birth Anniversary of Nritya Nipun Late Charoo Bordoloye will be unveiling his autobiography “My Life And Art Divine” at Rabindra Bhawan on December 31.

Charoo Bordoloye’s contribution to Assam’s cultural sphere is immense.

Apart from being the first Kathak exponent of Assam and the Founder Principal of Assam State College of Music (presently known as LKRB State College of Music), he was one of the earliest gramophone record artists.

He also acted in Assamese movies like Rupohi (1941) and Badan Barphukan (1947).

Not only that, but he was also the Founder President of Assam Shastriya Sangeet Sanstha and was one of the founders of All Assam Music Conference Further.

Late Charoo Bordoloye also established one of the earliest dance schools of Assam, Nartana Niketan to train the next. generation of artists.

His prominent disciples include Shri Ramkrishna Talukdar (Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee), Marami Medhi & many more.

Charoo Bordoloye Foundation was established to promote and preserve the works of the great maestro towards Assam’s cultural landscape.

Born in December 1921 to Anandi Bordolye and Debabala Bordoloye of Silpukhuri, Guwahati, Charoo was raised differently from other kids of the early 20th century. He passed away at the age of 69 on December 2, 1990.
