As the BJP-led Assam government completed 100 days in office, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah on Friday said the state government has done “more politics” than governance.

Borah made the statement while speaking to the media at North Lakhimpur after participating in the 77th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

He addressed the party workers at Rajiv Bhawan in North Lakhimpur after paying glowing tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at the meeting organized centrally for Lakhimpur district.

Criticising the state government for its inability to make people free from the Covid19 pandemic, Bhupen Borah said the common people, small businessmen and the poor have been hit hard by economic losses and price rise.

“Instead of announcing a package for the Covid affected economy, the state government has let the prices of essential commodities rise and has emerged as the champion of the big businesses,” the APCC president said.

He said many districts and sub-divisions in Assam still do not have ICU beds.

Borah said if the Covid19 vaccination process continues at the present pace, the people won’t be fully vaccinated in the next two years.

Borah urged the chief minister to make Assam free from Covid SOPs and complete the vaccination process.

The Assam Congress president criticised the state government for the deterioration of the situation along the border with Mizoram in which 6 policemen had to lose lives and an arrest warrant was issued against the Assam chief minister.

He was accompanied by Nowboicha MLA Bharat Narah, DCC president Dr. Joy Prakash Das and party leader Padma Lochan Doley.
