Assam has always been the land beyond the ordinary. Assam has been the land of revolution, the land of extraordinary, the land of inner strength.
And this time, the fight is against the inevitable – an enemy that has already claimed more than countable lives and is warming up for its third spell!
Following the preparation for the fight against this inevitable opponent, Guwahati witnessed one of its kind convergence programme which invited 200 youths as well as different representatives of the government departments including health, ICDS, WCD, food and nutrition in an event with a noble aim.
The programme aimed to pass on the beacon of struggle onto the hands of the youth of Assam who shall in the coming days fight forth towards making Assam a safe and Covid-free state with support and assistance from the government of Assam without whose help, it shall be extremely difficult to realise the mission.
The Youth Festival programme in Guwahati was an edu-cultural convergence programme organised by the Child In Need Institute (CINI) with kind support from the Government of Western Australia.
The programme kicked off with the welcome note presented by Dr. Lakshmanan S., Mission Director, National Health Mission, Assam.
He appreciated CINI and other supporting organizations remarkable contribution to support government, he said “it’s not only about the numbers it is the impact made in the total system”.
The programme included around 200 youth who were the main attraction of the event since they are the flagbearers to the initiative towards a brighter and better tomorrow, said a press statement.
The programme was carried out aiming at another massive goal – making the youth of the state aware of the overall situation as well as employ them in disseminating this knowledge to another 50 youngsters each, who shall again disseminate this knowledge to another set of 50 youngsters.
In the process, a nuclear chain will be formed so that the whole of the state of Assam can be made aware and conscious of the situation as well as the necessary means and requirements need to stop the spread of the pandemic and bypass the threat of malnutrition and health hazards once and for all.
The programme ensued through a number of events including the folk dance and songs of Assam, quiz and life skill games Karate as well as dance events of various other states of India and the like to give the programme a more national touch.

Sujoy Roy, national advocacy coordinator, CINI said, “We expect that youths of Assam will build resilience in their own communities and drive social change to prevent 3rd wave.”
“We are supporting young people of Assam in designing and delivering health awareness campaigns and initiatives, so that they are actively engaged in COVID19 health promotion,” Roy said.
The Food and Nutrition Board, Ministry of Woman and Child Development, Govt. of India, Poshan Abhiyaan, Govt. of Assam officials, was also present at the programme and provided a fantastic demonstration on the different types of foods and stuff that need to be consumed amid these pandemic times in order to maintain safe and health lifestyle and fight the threat of malnutrition.

The demonstration included educational awareness sessions as well as a live demonstration of preparation of the different food that need to be consumed as a part of the daily diet.
All the children and other people present in the programme enjoyed the demonstration with great delight showcasing the attraction and success behind the effort.
