“L-G sir had asked our department to illuminate the Trimurti area within 72 hours, but when we completed the work within 28 hours, he visited the area and said ‘Do din pehle yahan kya hi tha, bus Andhera hi Andhera, aapne toh yahan ki kaaya palat kardi (This place was engulfed in darkness only two days back. You all have completely turned it around)’ . This made us feel extremely proud of our work,” said Manoj Kumar from NDMC’s electricity department.

After it poured on the night of the Summit on September 9, Kumar and his team repaired several lights. Mukesh Giri, who was on security duty, said, “I was deployed at the Sardar Patel Marg along with my team. We ensured that no wild animals were found wandering on the roads during the Summit, especially when VIP movement was taking place.”

Seema from the PWD shared how her colleagues worked amid the rain to clear water from roads. “Since our movement was getting restricted due to the gloves and raincoats, we worked without any protection against the rain…in that moment, we felt like soldiers protecting their nation,” she said.

Lauding the field workers, L-G Saxena said, “They were fully dedicated, just like an Army man, to fulfill their assigned duty. They did not do it like government duty but as their personal

work.”

Lekhi said, “This is India in its Amrit Kaal. But, it is also a Kartavya Kaal for every citizen…every worker of the NDMC has fulfilled their Kartavya (duty) by working exceptionally hard during the Summit.”
