Northeast News – BJP’s Roopa Ganguly demands CBI probe

by Guwahati_City

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Roopa Ganguly alleging foul play into the recent derailment of the Bikaner-Guwahati Express in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri has demanded a CBI enquiry into the accident.

She claimed that over the years there has been no “bad news” about trains but now just a few days before assembly polls, how can an accident take place like this.

She hinted at the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Goa.

In a Facebook post, Ganguly said, “Can the train get derailed on its own? Does the rail track understand the polls are due soon? There had not been any bad news about trains for years. A CBI probe should be ordered. One should not play with human lives.”

However, her claim was nullified by West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar.

Majumdar said there should be no controversy over a human tragedy.

He added that the cause of the accident will be known after the probe is completed.

At least nine people have reportedly lost their lives after as many as 12 coaches of the Bikaner-Guwahati train derailed in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district.

Over 50 people have also sustained minor to major injuries in the accident.
