ITANAGAR, 4 Aug: A state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday approved the health & family welfare department’s proposal for upgrading the health infrastructure in the state.

It was decided to set up six-bedded intensive care unit (ICU) beds and a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) on a “turnkey basis” at the BP General Hospital (BPGH) in Pasighat, the general hospital (GH) in Aalo, the GH in Bomdila, the GH in Tezu, the GH in Khonsa, and the GH in Ziro at an estimated cost of Rs 606.15 lakhs.

These six hospitals will thus have a total of 36 ICU beds, out of which 30 will be adult ICU beds and six paediatric ICU beds.

It was also decided to set up an 18-bedded paediatric care unit (including four PICU beds) at the BPGH on turnkey basis at an estimated cost of Rs 235.55 lakhs. The BPGH will thus have 14 PCU beds and four PICU beds.

Other decisions taken with regard to the health sector included setting up a 12-bedded paediatric care unit (including two PICU beds) on turnkey basis at the district/general hospitals in Yingkiong, Seppa, Bomdila, Tawang, Ziro, Aalo, Daporijo, and Namsai at an estimated cost of Rs 1,070.8 lakhs. These eight hospitals will thus have 96 beds in all, out of which 80 will be PCU beds and 16 PICU beds.

These facilities will cater to the present Covid-19 pandemic needs, as well as continue to provide non-Covid patient care services.

The work will be executed through the HLL Life Care Ltd, a government of India enterprise.

With regard to the women & child development department, the cabinet approved the ‘Guidelines on adoption of anganwadi centres by individuals, organisations, business houses and corporate bodies’.

“Adoption of an anganwadi centre by individuals, organisations, business houses and corporate bodies would afford an exceptional opportunity for all stakeholders to enrich the life of children and women by providing holistic support in terms of range and quality of services,” the cabinet observed.

The cabinet also approved naming the Hollongi greenfield airport ‘Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar’.

“This name of the lone airport in the capital city will symbolise the age-old tradition and rich cultural heritage of the tribal state and also will reflect the people’s age-old indigenous reverence on the sun (donyi) and the moon (polo),” the cabinet said.

The cabinet was briefed about the actionable points of the meeting of the chief ministers with the prime minister on 24 July in New Delhi.

A detailed presentation was made, informing about the status of the saturation of 13 CSS schemes, and it was resolved to work towards 100 percent saturation. (CM’s PR Cell)
