The MD/MS seats’ first state counseling was held on Friday at the Government Medical College and Hospital at Sector 32 (GMCH-32).
The counselling was done for total 76 seats (72 + 4 EWS). The number of seats allotted to candidates in IP + UT Pool and UT Pool are: 61 (General and SC). The number of vacant seats after the first counselling are15 (General + SC).
The list of provisionally allotted candidates has been uploaded on the GMCH-32 website http://www.gmch.gov.in.
The Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh, Sector 32 (GMCH-32) on Thursday said that the counselling for admission to MD/MS courses in the institute that started on August 16 stands cancelled and will be restarted from Friday.
As per details, the seat allocation process to GMCH-32 had started at 5.30 pm on Wednesday, after the Punjab and Haryana High Court refused to issue a stay order for admission to the MD/MS courses to GMCH-32, in accordance with the revised process and sequencing, as provided in the prospectus.
However, the counselling will be subject to the final outcome of the court case.

On Wednesday, there were no applicants for EWS seats in either the Institutional Pool (IP) or UT Pool. Therefore, it was decided to convert the EWS seats into general category seats during the first counselling itself. However, these converted seats were not added in the general category seats and at the time of seat allocation, each candidate was allowed to exercise option for these converted seats.
After completion of Day One’s counselling, a candidate indicated that there was some confusion regarding conversion of EWS seats into general category seats.
The issue was subsequently discussed in detail by the PG Admission Committee, which agreed that the converted seats should have been added in the branch of the general category seats for better clarity.
