Voting for elections to 14 civic bodies in Tripura, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation, is underway.
Voting began at 7 in the morning on Thursday.
Few incidents of violence have also been reported during the polling.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has claimed that all of its agents were thrown out from polling stations in ward number 21 of AMC.

The TMC further alleged that their Ambassa candidate was assaulted by “BJP goons”.

An interesting triangular contest is underway in the Tripura civic bodies elections between the BJP, TMC and the CPI-M.
The civic bodies’ elections in Tripura are being seen as a semi-final before the crucial Assembly elections in the state in 2023.
Notably, the TMC has emerged as the main opposition party in Tripura, putting up a humongous challenge before the ruling BJP in the state.

The Tripura state election commission has informed that as many as 770 polling stations have been set up across the state for the civic bodies’ elections.
Voters will decide the fate of 785 candidates.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 112 out of the total 334 seats uncontested.
Voting for the remaining 222 seats is underway.
